Blue Shadow Vase
Handmade vase from terra-cotta
Country of origin: Indonesia
Dimensions: width 38cm; height 80cm; length 38cm
You will have seen the Asian or Indochine look that’s so prevalent in cool restaurants and hotel lobbies: The wooden furniture, the gossamer lampshades, and of course the pots and vases that accent the decorating style. This is a prime example of that look, made with quality terra-cotta. Terra cotta, from its Italian origins, means baked earth, and is a class of earthenware that’s porous and can be either glazed or unglazed.
Use it indoors and it can be a display or a receptacle for long stemmed reeds (that don’t require watering), or it’ll also be a lovely holder for umbrellas – use your imagination! Display it outdoors and it’ll hug plants beautifully. Either way, over time this 80cm-vase will take on a rich colour as it reacts to the environment. .
