Indochine Carved Bowl
Carved bowl from wood
Country of origin: Indonesia
Dimensions: width 20cm; height 60cm
This slim teak bowl serves as a useful decorative item, and in itself is a lithe thing of beauty. Made from teak, a tropical hardwood that has a leather-like smell when freshly milled – valued for its durability and water resistance.
In Asia teak is often used for building boats, exterior construction, making furniture and carvings, and on a smaller scale for souvenirs and knick-knacks. Fill this with fruits, candies or smaller packages; in fact, at 60cm in length you can also use it as a creative utensil holder.
In the living room employ this as a receptacle of keys, pens, wallets and coins. Or just fill it with pebbles for a more rustic effect. It’s a truly versatile elongated bowl, and slim enough it can just simply settle atop smaller coffee tables or window ledges.
