Inspired by the historical hand fan used prominently throughout the world, the chest of drawers is given an exhalation of life with it’s unique shape. The hand fan was used in many parts of the ancient world, from Europe through to Far Eastern Asia. The earliest use of the hand fan would probably belong to the Chinese and Japanese culture.
Their hand fans were made with the abundant materials of their land, mostly bamboo, silk and feathers. Intricately decorated, the hand fans from Asian cultures were considered a symbol of high social status. Featuring a mural from Asian culture, the goldfish was said to symbolise wealth. Put together, the chest of drawers is a richly crafted piece of furniture that’s steeped in cultural symbols for a life of the highborn. Perfect for the homeowner that’s looking for a symbolic centre piece for their living space.
