Around 8000 BC, copper was the first metal to be used by humans, presumably to craft tools and not make lamps or bowls; we have come a long way since then. Copper’s longevity is partly due to its abundance, its malleability, and antibacterial qualities. And when done right, it does have a beautiful sheen – they must have known that way back then.
This modern copper lamp, with its stylish dome shape, is done in an antique style but its treatment is anything but. It has a treated green washed patina that is maintenance free; you don’t have to polish it to keep its sheen, all you need is the occasional wipe down. Its dual surfaces – shiny on the inside, matte on the outside – gives it character and versatility. Hang it over an island kitchen unit and let it signal health and happiness over your household.
