Terra-cotta is an abundant natural material that is often used to make pottery like pots, vases, bowls and various outdoor sculpture, or even structures. The name, from its Italian origins, means baked earth, and it is a type of earthenware that’s porous and can be either glazed or unglazed.
It is characteristically, as its name implies, brownish orange, and somewhat tactile depending on how it is heated or baked. And while it cools one can add design elements and other materials to it. This vase is coated with sand in the top half, with undulating lines like the shore across its body.
The bottom half is a smoother yet equally mesmerising black coat. The narrow mouth allows for reds and stalks to stand tall and the shapely base, when filled with water, keeps it steady.
